In 2019, Bunbury City Council endorsed the transfer of the Jaycee Park land to SWAMS to support the development of health and community services infrastructure. The land was formally transferred in 2025 following SWAMS securing the necessary project funding.

City’s Role

What’s Being Built

The development is a multi-purpose health and community facility that will provide:

The building incorporates cultural design elements celebrating Noongar connection to Country, including:

  • 154 car parking bays (including four accessible parking bays)
  • 36 bicycle parking spaces

Site Access and Tree Removal

The Jaycee Park site is closed to the public during construction, including:

  • Open space areas
  • Public toilet block
  • Playground equipment

Extensive tree removal is required as part of essential site remediation to address historical contamination on the site. Trees will be retained where safely possible. This is a safety-critical process being undertaken in accordance with environmental approvals and the City-approved Site Remediation Plan.

The existing playground was aging infrastructure located on contaminated land requiring remediation. Removal is also necessary as part of site works and contamination remediation.

The eastern portion of the site will reopen as public open space once construction is complete (late 2027). The completed site will include significant new landscaping.

Road Works

Road works will occur on Forrest Avenue mid-to-late 2027, including:

  • New roundabout installation
  • Footpath construction
  • Bus embayment works

Trees will be retained where safely possible.

    This is a safety-critical process required under environmental approvals. New landscaping will be included in the completed development, and removed vegetation will be disposed of in accordance with environmental requirements.
