Hudson Road Tree Removal Image

The City of Bunbury's contracted arborist will remove two dead Tuart trees from the Hudson Road reserve. Work will start in the week of Monday, 9 November 2026 and should take a few days.

Why the trees are being removed

We understand people in the community care about these trees. These trees have been dead for several years, and the City has monitored them over that time. A recent assessment found there is a high risk to community safety because of their size, condition, and location near the road, footpath and power lines.

The decision has therefore been made to remove the trees to keep people safe, protect nearby property and infrastructure, and look after the reserve in the long term.

The habitat

The City tries to keep habitat trees wherever it can and is aware of the habitat value of these trees. Fauna inspections will be undertaken prior to removal to ensure any risk to fauna using the trees for habitat is managed and minimised.

Replacing the canopy

We have already planted new trees in the surrounding area to help renew the tree canopy, and tree planning is scheduled during the next winter planting season. This will offset the lost canopy over time and help keep Bunbury's urban forest healthy.

What to expect during the works

Work should have little effect on your day-to-day activities, however there may be traffic and pedestrian management as needed to ensure community safety. Please follow all signs and directions from workers on site.

If you have questions about this project, please contact the Parks and Reserves Department on (08) 9792 7000.
