Do you have a passion for culture, community and global connection? The City of Bunbury is inviting nominations from community members to join the Sister City Advisory Group.
The Group plays an important role in supporting Bunbury's international relationships with Setagaya in Japan, Jiaxing in China and Nha Trang in Vietnam. Helping to deliver cultural programs, welcome visiting delegations, support student exchanges and strengthen community ties.
About the Group
The Sister City Advisory Group works to:
- Strengthen Sister and Friendship City relationships through ongoing exchanges, programs and joint initiatives
- Raise local awareness of Bunbury's international partnerships through media, events and community outreach
- Encourage community participation in cultural programs, events and exchange opportunities
Who We're Looking For
The Sister City Advisory Group brings together community members, ex-officio members representing local institutions and City departments, and two elected members of Council.
We're seeking community members with a passion for intercultural communication. Experience with the languages, cultures or cities of our partner relationships is highly valued, but what matters most is enthusiasm and a genuine interest in connecting Bunbury with the world.
There are 10 community positions available.
What's Involved
- The Group meets approximately 8 times per year at the City of Bunbury's Administration Building at 4 Stephen Street, Bunbury
- Members are encouraged to attend events and delegations beyond the regular meeting schedule
- The September to November period is particularly active, with highlights including the Setagaya Goodwill Student Exchange, the Festival of Japan and the Setagaya Photographic Exhibition
- The term of commitment runs until October 2027
