The City of Bunbury, through the Wardandi Wanil Art Centre, is seeking an Aboriginal Youth Engagement Facilitator to deliver the Noongar Arts Fashion Youth Program during Term 4, 2026.

The Noongar Arts Fashion Youth Program creates meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal young people aged 16 to 24 from the Bunbury region to connect with culture, build confidence and explore creative pathways through fashion and cultural expression. Participants will work alongside Elders, Wardandi Wanil Art Centre artists and industry specialists, developing skills in areas including stage and set design, textiles and fashion, modelling, makeup artistry, photography, and production and event management. Participants will also have the opportunity to be part of the Noongar Arts Fashion Show, celebrating Noongar culture, creativity and community.
The facilitator will work with the Wardandi Wanil Art Centre to develop and coordinate an engaging program, bringing together industry professionals across different areas of fashion and creative practice. The role will involve coordinating weekly sessions, supporting specialist practitioners and mentoring young people throughout the program. You don’t need to be an expert in fashion or the creative industries - what matters is your ability to bring people together, support young people and help create a positive, culturally safe environment.
What the Role Involves
- Help develop and coordinate weekly three-hour workshops with industry specialists.
- Support the recruitment and ongoing engagement of young participants.
- Encourage and mentor participants as they explore their creative ideas and develop portfolios.
- Work alongside Elders, artists, industry professionals and community partners to support the program.
- Support young people to prepare for and participate in the Noongar Arts Fashion Show.
- Provide feedback and contribute to program evaluation and reporting.
Position details
- Location: Wardandi Wanil Art Centre, Bunbury
- Program period: Term 4, 2026 (Monday 12 October to Thursday 17 December 2026)
- Hours: Up to 16 hours per week during school term time
- Rate: $44.64 per hour plus superannuation
This is an identified position for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (preferably Noongar), consistent with section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA). A current Working with Children Check is required prior to commencement.
