National Reconciliation Week Events | Goomburrup

The City of Bunbury is proud to stand alongside our Noongar Wardandi community in the ongoing journey of reconciliation. It’s a commitment we take seriously – not just during National Reconciliation Week, but all year round.

National Reconciliation Week takes place this year from 27 May to 3 June.

This year's theme is All In, encouraging all Australians to play their part in reconciliation. There's plenty happening locally and ways you can be involved:

Monday 25 May

  • Reconciliation Week Official Opening held at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell and hosted by Yaka Dandjoo. Join us at 9am for the official opening of Reconciliation Week, featuring a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony and Flag Raising.
  • A Walking Tour hosted by and held at the South Regional TAFE at 11.30am with a guest speaker and lunch provided.

Tuesday 26 May - National Sorry Day

  • Sorry Day Breakfast held at Milligan hosted by the South West Aboriginal Women’s Collective from 8am to 10am. Learn more about the Sorry Day Flower Project, gather for reflection, truth-telling and community conversations.

Friday 29 May

  • Yarn and Crafts hosted by and held at the Southern Aboriginal Corporation from 10am to 12pm. Come together for a morning of connection, creativity, learning and community.

All events are free and welcome to all. Only the Sorry Day Breakfast at Milligan requires an RSVP; please email swawc6230@gmail.com by 19 May to confirm your attendance.

This page will be updated as further events are confirmed.

Walk for Reconciliation 2026

Thursday 22 October | Koombana Bay | Goomburrup

Reconciliation doesn’t stop at the end of National Reconciliation Week – it’s a year-round commitment.

Following consultation with Elders, Wardandi Aboriginal Corporation, Yaka Dandjoo Events, and Reconciliation WA, the Walk for Reconciliation will once again take place in October allowing us to gather in comfort as the weather warms. This decision reflects our commitment to reconciliation as a year-round journey. We're ALL IN, all year round.

Stay up to date with the Walk for Reconciliation via our event page.
